Multi-Posting and Recruitment Technology - What is all the fuss about

26 June 2013

We recently spoke to Recruitment Buzz about recruitment technology, LogicMelon as a business and what the future holds. For those of you with an interest in streamlining your recruitment process, it's well worth a read...

During the week, LogicMelon Directors Darren Brown and Nicholas Van Esch took time out of their busy schedules to spend five minutes with us at Recruitment Buzz to answer some questions about recruitment technology, their company and what the future holds.

LogicMelon is a hugely successful technology company which offers (amongst a great deal of other things) a Multi-Posting solution for Recruitment companies. Their innovative system makes the process distributing job adverts a breeze - with one click of a button, your job advert can be distributed to a number of recruitment sites, instead of uploading the advert one by one.

For those who don't know about multi-posting, Darren explained exactly how the concept worked, with recruiters inputting the details of the job before LogicMelon sends out the ad quickly and efficiently. He said, "Whether it's one job board or ten - we can handle that with just one click."

Nicholas added that many clients buy fancy tracking systems and then realise that they are missing out because they can only post on 2 or 3 channels, whereas with the multi-posting concept, you can reap the advantages posting to multiple places at once.

Nicholas said, "Without a multi-posting system in place, you cannot gain the benefits of trying out new and different sources and working out which is best for what, where and how you recruit."

With LogicMelon, you can advertise on as many channels you wish and the system will do all of the work.

With the technology market constantly developing, especially in the recruitment area, new technology appears every day. Multi-posting is a dynamic that many people know about but haven't yet embraced. Whilst you may not be sure about the technology yet, it is already changing and developing at a great pace. That's why we asked both Darren and Nicholas if they could foresee any changes within the multi-posting concept in the next few years.

Both of them told us that, yes, they could most definitely see the multi-posting market developing, especially around social media. Darren mentioned that there is a demand to not only post to career sites but also social channels.

"We are a multi posting business and in the future, we won't just post jobs, but content of all types."

With social media having an increasingly bigger role in the recruitment advertising world, jobs are now appearing everywhere online, not just job boards. But which networking site is becoming most popular with applications for the jobs posted upon then? And what about trends?

Nicholas tells us that their clients generally want to post upon all the social media sites - Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Yet he tells us that LinkedIn is the most popular site for returning the most value and this is down to the exposure that the companies have.

Nicholas said, "We can however say that the performance is very strongly tied with the effort and success the clients have in leveraging their brand and exposure in the social media. Simply posting jobs will not return any value on any platform other than LinkedIn."

But although social media sites seem to post hundreds of jobs daily, new job boards are still appearing in searches too and the competition to become successful will always be the most important factor in setting up a new recruitment board.

Nicholas agrees that the competition is fierce and the successful boards that have grown over the past few years are niche boards, with industries related to oil, mining and engineering. He also believes that currently, there are two strategies to becoming successful.

He says you can either "…be the next big thing and turn it on its head - or be the best in a niche by adding value in the relationship between recruiters and candidates. The value is in the connections."

Darren also tells us that you shouldn't expect to be the next Monster in a year, because competition between the boards is fierce, but his advice is to "Be realistic, be social, add value and know your audience."

So what makes LogicMelon different to other multi-posting alternatives in the market? For Nicholas, an important factor is that fact that LogicMelon works on the principle that no two companies recruit alike - they are all different in the way they search.

He says, "LogicMelon gives recruiters the best of breed technology, out of the box, with the ability to mould around clients unique recruiting processes. LogicMelon is also far more consultative in its approach and actually helps clients see where they could do things better, based on our experience."

He also goes on to say that LogicMelon has opened up a small consulting wing because of the demand for their concept. But what are the benefits of using their multi-posting technology?

One of the primary benefits is, of course, the fact it saves precious time. One click of a button and your jobs are dispersed to a number of career and social sites, eliminating the tedious job of uploading to each job board. You can also manage your own brand and content across many channels, as well as measure your response rate, which in turn will save costs as it will be under one roof.

With LogicMelon being one of the most popular multi-posting companies, we asked Darren and Nicholas what was next for them.

"The most important part is always making sure the clients have the best tools for their recruiting needs."

Many thanks for Darren Brown and Nicholas Van Esch for taking the time to answers our questions. If you weren't familiar with the multi-posting concept, I hope that their answers have made you more aware of how LogicMelon can help you in distributing your job advertisements to a wider job board and the benefits of using their company in the future.

For recruiters who are still unsure about recruitment technology and what it can offer, LogicMelon provides a free 14 day trial to let you experience just how simple their products are to use.
