An interview with Darren Brown

12 October 2012

1. Please can you give me an idea of when and how LogicMelon started?

Created in 2009, LogicMelon was built on the knowledge gained from a combined 24 years of experience in the Job posting and applicant tracking industry. We started with just two staff and now we have 11 covering two office locations; Head office in the UK and another office in South Africa!

2. Can you give me a quick overview of your career to date; i.e how your background puts you in the best position to take LogicMelon further

Nick and I have both been working in the posting and tracking industry since it began about 13 years ago when we both worked for a company called Conkers.net. Conkers was later bought by Jobsite, who were then acquired by the Daily mail and general trust (DMGT), who then went on to purchase Broadbean. So Conkers and Broadbean become one.

During the course of this time, Nick focused on many technical developments in the industry whilst I account managed some of the top 10 recruitment agencies in the world. With our vast technical and commercial industry knowledge, we decided to create LogicMelon and we are now being branded as one of the top companies in our market place. Our business model is focussed on innovation and we are determined to continue to push our technology forward.

3. Can you describe LogicMelon as it is now?

We have 11 Staff across vibrant offices where all staff input is welcomed and every idea is heard. Client numbers have quadrupled from 2011, based upon our technology, ethics, customer service and damn right awesomeness!

We have literally hundreds of job board connections, connecting 1000’s of users these plus social media areas. We have grown organically and are currently exceeding our expectations of turnover. Things are doing really well.

4. Did you envisage such rapid growth?

Yes and No; we knew that our technology was good and the team behind it was some of the best in our industry which meant we could hit the ground running, however we needed to make sure we offered something extra – something our competitors don’t . There was a space in the market for provider that could offer flexibly to fit within client needs and workflow’s structures.

5. In your mind, what’s the main reason for the success?

Dedication, industry knowledge, system and site flexibility and a genuine interest in our industry. Plus a desire to innovate technology in the recruitment sector. Along with a team that is dedicated and enjoys the work; that’s what shines through to our clients.

6. What would you say is LogicMelon’s greatest achievement to date?

Being able to offer our clients a fully functional careers site where they are able to manage the candidate work flow all whilst being branded as the client, and using LogicMelon’s technology. As well as our continued growth in all areas of course!

7. What are your plans for the future?

There are many items on the LogicMelon roadmap; however some keys features coming soon will be the LogicMelon Mobile site, as more and more recruiters now use mobile devices to manage their jobs and candidates.
